A fall of fear

Horror and sci-fi will be big this fall on television. From The Hartford Courant:

"There's a lot of anxiety in the world right now," says producer David Goyer, whose "Threshold" is the best of the pack of invasion shows. "And historically, when people have been scared and people have been nervous, there's been an uptick in science-fantasy horror." snip As on "Threshold," the unknown comes from space on ABC's "Invasion." On NBC's "Surface," crazy things happen because of something new discovered undersea. On ABC's "Night Stalker," an update of the old "Kolchak, the Night Stalker," shadowy werewolf-like creatures maraud the landscape. On The WB's "Supernatural," a pair of brothers look for answers amid malevolent representatives of the spirit world. Jennifer Love Hewitt, though, takes a gentler approach in contacting the dead on CBS's "Ghost Whisperer."
Of the upcoming shows, I'm most looking forward to Kolchak.

The October issue of Asimov's Science Fiction (subscribers have it, should be on the stands now or soon) is dedicated to spooky stories. Some are quite good.
