Dying a horrible death

From Centre Daily of State College, Pa.:

Of all the problems Katrina exposed, the greatest was a crisis of leadership. The leadership void started in New Orleans with the overwhelmed mayor, popped up in Baton Rouge with the befuddled governor, and landed in Texas, where a vacationing President Bush took days to notice the enormity of the disaster. The city was unprepared. This nightmare is one that Anne Rice could not have told so well. This city is dying a horrible death, screaming in agony as the federal government watched it suffer and did not do enough to help. The Superdome became a tomb.
