Mrs. Hudson

Sherlock Holmes' landlady, Mrs. Hudson, takes center stage in a new play.

Professional comedy and drama writer, Peter Tong, 54, of Lynd-hurst, has written his first play about Sherlock Holmes' landlady, Mrs Hudson. While Holmes and Watson are away solving the Red-Headed League mystery, his landlady, the respectable Mrs H and her gutter-snipe Cockney maid, Fanny-Annie Grubins, help a desperate lady find her missing husband. Mrs H of Baker Street will run for six days as part of the annual Manchester Comedy Festival this October. Peter said: "Comedy is my forte. I am hoping it will be a great success and I'd love to get it to the West End or Broadway - I have written a novel of the play and it's at the publisher's as we speak." Director Gabriel Kern said: "This is a director's dream come true. Everyone knows the Sherlock Holmes stories and this new slant is fascinating and very very funny."
How I wish I could be in the front row in October to see this debut.

Why would someone do that? That's sick even by high school football standards.
