An erotic, gothic Dracula

As Steven Stead explains in his director's notes, Liz Lochhead's adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic horror novel focuses not so much on the dark forces, but on the effect that the vampire Count Dracula has on the humans drawn into his lair. This is not to say that Michael Gritten's Dracula doesn't get a fair shake at the bloody excesses, which have kept the vampire securely at the top of the horror heap.
