Werewolf prank bites cops

From The Canyon Courier of Evergreen, CO comes this story of a practical joke gone wrong:

When the two Denver police officers rounded the corner on their early morning patrol at Red Rocks, they realized they had a savage killing on their hands. They didn’t have a body. But what they did have — a woman’s slip, bra and panties, all blood-stained and ripped to shreds — was enough for them to send out the highest of alarms over their radio. And then there were the tracks in the mud. Something — part man, part beast — had obviously attacked the woman. Within minutes police officers from across the metro area were converging on Red Rocks. Television crews followed, and soon their cameras were airing live footage of the crime scene on morning newscasts. It was the early 1970s and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Roger Burchett was getting home from his graveyard shift. He poured a cup of coffee and turned on the morning news. There was Red Rocks and a crime scene. Burchett knew he was in trouble.
It reads like a great intro to a werewolf story or movie...
